Hudson - 10/27/2016

Hudson had a few bites of raisin english muffin and ate blueberries for breakfast.  For lunch he ate turkey ham, sandwich thin with jelly, green beans, and two servings of strawberries.

The kids jump off the balance beam onto the mattress and land on their bottom and call it a "butt bomb."  That term started with Reid's brother Bode, then to Reid, then to Sophie, and guess what?  Bubba says it perfect!  Ha!  And he's not even jumping off the balance beam yet!  :)  He probably said it 30 - 40 times this morning.  (Without any encouragement of course!  Haha!)

These three pictures depict what Hudson did the first 15 - 20 minutes at Little Treasures.  He first went to the dress-up rack and wanted to put on some PJ's.  He actually has on 2 of them; just with his arms in the sleeves, but not the feet.  He wore them until breakfast time.  In the first picture he's trying to show Baby Nora how to insert the chew toy in her mouth.  :)

This is a block structure that Kenzie and Riley built yesterday afternoon and it actually survived for another day.  That's a rarity!!  The last picture shows how the kids were getting in and out of it.

I've mentioned this before, but Hudson likes to do everything that Reid does.  He actually adores Reid!!  This morning Reid was tossing the legos and so I reminded him it's not safe to throw the toys with babies here and also that Hudson will mimic him!  Reid said to Hudson, "Don't throw em Bubba; I'm just launching them!!"  LOL!!

Hudson - 10/26/2016

Hudson ate jelly toast and mangoes for breakfast.  For lunch he ate burrito (bean, rice, chicken), sweet potatoes, and most of tropical fruit.  After lunch it was smelling kind of suspicious and Reid said, "Gary!  I found the one who's poopy!!"  Who is it?  "Bubba!"  He was right!

Lauralea and I were talking about Kenzie and Riley and Bubba obviously heard us.  He headed right for the window to watch for them just like we do every day after school.  Except this was about 10:00 in the morning!!  Ha!  Sorry Hudson!!

Sophie and Hudson basically arrived at the same time this morning and I took a picture of the first activity of their day!!  Sophie moved a yellow bench across the opening for a barricade so Hudson couldn't get in!  Look at that grin and teasing face!!

I'm posting a couple pictures that have four kids in each picture.  They were all (baby Nora was taking a nap) playing close together and I always think it's so cute when they do that.  Reid was building a "pathway" (his words) with the blocks right below the gate.  Sophie was helping build it and Hudson was taking blocks to Reid.  Reid said, "Thank you Bubba!" several times.  In the second picture Reid had been laying on the mattress covered with a blanket.  They were crawling all over him and he jumped up and headed for the couch.  He said, "I'm outta here!!"  Sophie followed him to the couch Reid said, "You guys don't have to panic cause I not play with you!"  LOL!

Hudson - 10/25/2016

Hudson ate cinnamon roll and canned prunes for breakfast.  For lunch he ate half of scrambled eggs, sausage, and hash brown combo; ate waffle and a few grapes.

Maddy, after our conversation last night I wanted to tell you what happened this morning when I changed Hudson's poopy diaper.  (actually he had 2)  Reid had come over to observe and he was wearing a headband; similar to the one in Hudson's picture yesterday.  That totally distracted Hudson and he didn't flinch when I cleaned him as he was totally focused on Reid.  So with the 2nd change I sat the baby monitor so he could focus on the screen (even though no baby was in their crib) and again he was totally distracted.  So much easier and peaceful for everyone.

There are several different combs in this toy exchange and Hudson was using them all yesterday.  So I took a picture this morning when he was doing the same thing again.  And in the next picture he had one of the phones, walking around saying, "Hi Tutu, hi Tutu....."  And all on his own initiative.  :)  I've heard that Tutu might like you doing that Bubba!!

We had Story Time and Hudson stayed on the couch for a few books and then he started jabbering and I put him down to play.  He also participated in doing stickers at Art Time and using some little stamps.  (I helped with the ink pads.)  I took this picture of Reid, Sophie, and Hudson playing on the floor.  Reid is so good with the little people.  Hudson loves him and mimics lots of what Reid does.  I can't think of a better kid for Hudson to mimic!!

Hudson - 10/24/2016

Hudson ate kix cereal and mixed fruit for breakfast.  For lunch he ate ham sandwich, peas, and most of mandarin oranges.

I was feeding Baby Nora a bottle and I saw Hudson drop a truck on his foot.  Ouch!  He was fussing around there for a few moments looking at me.  I asked him if he dropped the truck on his foot and he said, "Uhh huh!"  So I asked him if he was ok?  "No."  :)  He only fussed for a few seconds and was fine, but the way he answers questions is so cute.  He was looking at me as if to say, "Just why aren't you doing something to help me?!?"  (In case someone is wondering, I have no problem laying a baby down even in the middle of a feeding if I determine another situation needs my immediate attention!)

I put this headband on Hudson as soon as he came in this morning and he left it on for 50 minutes. That is not typical of this age!  Very cute.  This is a picture of him at the window watching as Daddy Colin was driving to work.  All the parents thought Hudson and Sophie's jerseys were so cute!  The most common remark;  "I wonder who they're cheering for tonight!?!"  :)

I did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend and the kids were busy all morning.  Hudson played with the trucks, animal toys that make animal sounds, stuffed animals, and the food toys.  I took this picture when Hudson was putting syrup on Reid's pancake.  They repeated this several times.  Bubba seemed to know what Reid wanted him to do.

Hudson - 10/21/2016

Hudson had several bites of brown rice and ate several raisins for breakfast.  For lunch he ate everything; pulled pork, flat bread, carrots, and apricots.  When Hudson saw me headed to the lunch room with a food tray he sprinted for the gate (like he always does) and he was saying, (basically shouting) "nack! nack!"  (snack)  Haha!!  He excels in the area of enthusiasm!!  Love it!

Hudson gives me loves (I call it "checking in") so many times during the day.  Very sweet.  Lately he's been wrapping his arms around one of my legs.  It's so cute and makes me laugh.  I had Avilene on the changing table and I said, "I love you Avi."  Hudson came sprinting across the room, got down on the floor by my feet, and wrapped his arms around one of my ankles.  It was SO funny.  No, I haven't forgotten about you and yes, I love you too Bubba!!

Today was the first time I tried Hudson sitting at the table during Art - doing some Dot Painting!  He did great and focused on his task.  I took this picture near the end of our time painting.  I gave him the "yellow" to start with!!  :)  (Notice I have the bottles labeled for color challenged people!  Haha!!)

This is pretty obvious, but just so you all know what goes on all day at Little Treasures.  (Besides the activities I'm able to post with pictures.  Ha!)  There are unlimited opportunities ALL day long for teaching the kids "social skills."  (Something we're NOT born with!  Ha!)  Sometimes it's simply keeping them from harming or maiming each other!!  :)

Hudson - 10/20/2016

Hudson ate cinnamon toast and grapes for breakfast.  For lunch he ate baked chicken (loves it), ate dinner roll, most of hash browns, and bites of tropical fruit.

Lauralea was impressed this morning listening to Hudson jabbering.  Especially when he'd "answer" a question.  (Accuracy of answer or silliness of topic is not the point here.)  He is engaging in the back-n-forth dialogue.  Pretty cool.  Hudson, are you coo-coo!?  "Hmmm...no."  So cute.

It's kind of quiet around here today.  Hudson, Avilene, and Baby Nora are the only ones at Little Treasures.  Here are several pictures representing Hudson's morning.  First 2 pictures; looking through clear bottom pan and bouncing on the mattress.  Pictures 3 & 4:  The top of the legos table has become one of Hudson's favorite places lately.  Remember yesterday's Blog?  Well he tumbled off again this morning and into the drawer!  Geez!  Picture number 4 is the look you get when someone tells you to be careful and not fall AGAIN!!  Ha!  Hudson was also working hard at fitting pieces together; cups, legos, putting toys into containers, etc. Lots of small motor manipulative skill learning.

And this last picture is SO adorable.  Here's what had just happened; He got the doll blanket off the shelf, laid it in front of Baby Nora, patted the blanket for her to lay her head down, and then he laid down.  It was so cute.

Hudson - 10/19/2016

Hudson ate apple/cinnamon bagel and peaches for breakfast.  For lunch he ate ham, half of whole wheat elbow noodles, most of corn, and half of apple pieces.

Yesterday when Daddy Colin dropped off Hudson, Reid headed for the window and said, "I'm gonna wave at Uncle Pat."  He knew he had the wrong name and was being silly.  He said the same thing this morning; except it did it for both Colin and Pat.

Speaking of Reid, he was holding Hudson by his ankle and dragging him across the floor.  Hudson was roaring with laughter.  I hated to interfere with their fun, but we've had kids get a carpet burn from similar activities so that is no longer legal!  Ha!  (Coincidently Reid has a scab on his back now from a rug burn he got at home.)

This first picture is from yesterday when the kids played with these magnetic toys.  Hudson kind of got the idea what was going on.  Today during art time we did some halloween stickers.  I peeled off most of the stickers for him and he put them on his paper.  He was pretty successful and seemed to enjoy the activity.

Hudson had been standing on the legos table and slipped off into the legos drawer.  He was kind of thrashing around amongst the legos making quite a racket!  He wasn't hurt, wasn't whimpering, so we had a good laugh.  I took this picture after he got himself upright!  And he still had a lego in each hand!!  Well played Bubba!

Hudson - 10/17/2016

Hudson ate rice chex cereal and mixed fruit for breakfast.  For lunch he ate beef sandwich, drank tomato soup, ate crackers, and pickled beets.  Before breakfast Hudson pointed at the poster on the dryer; "yellow, yellow, yellow."  Sorry.  There's not a speck of yellow on that one.  :)

Hudson was watching at the window when Daddy went by.  He waved and then continued to wave at 3 or 4 more cars that went past.  And each one was "Dad Dad Dad."  Haha!

I told Hudson to wave bye to Uncle Pat this morning.  Later my Sister called and I had her on speaker phone and Sophie was telling her the names of her family.  Mommy's name; "Molly."  Daddy's name; "Uncle Pat."  My sister just roared.  Sophie knew she was being silly and she was grinning hugely.  She really does have a great sense of humor and we see it frequently.

I took this picture when Hudson was working hard at "tickling" Reid.  It was really cute.  However, Reid has a pretty good scab right below Hudson's right hand.  Remember last Friday when Sophie was lifting Bubba's shirt to see his owie?  Reid slid down the carpeted stairs at home and essentially got a rug burn on his back.  But he did play along with Hudson tickling him.

I took this picture when 3 of the Daycare kids were huddled around Baby Nora in the saucer.  I'd just moved her saucer into the Daycare room and they all love to mess with the different toys.  (And it keeps the Baby totally entertained.)    :)

Hudson - 10/14/2016

Hudson ate oatmeal and a couple bites of canned prunes for breakfast.  For lunch he ate hash brown casserole, biscuit, and most of mandarin oranges.  At breakfast I had Hudson's oatmeal on the freezer and Avi's food on the freezer.  I was feeding both of them and had to step away for a second.  Avi reached up and knocked Hudson's oatmeal on the floor.  (My fault!  Too close!)  Reid said, "I'm glad I'm not close to Her!!"  Haha!

Sophie and Hudson were at the window after Lunch and we could hear an airplane flying over.  Sophie spotted it, started waving and said; "Bye Tutu, Bye Tutu."  Then she looked at Hudson and started laughing.

Hudson was talking to Avilene at Lunch time and pointing at the art posters across the lunch room saying, "yellow, yellow, yellow."  For those who don't know, he's been pointing at those posters for a week or so and doing the same thing.  Occasionally he'll actually be pointing at yellow!  Earlier he was pointing at the wildlife poster and all the animals;  "yellow, yellow, yellow."  :)

Yesterday I posted on the Blog that Hudson started chanting, "night night" when I turned on the sound machine.  Well today it was before the sound machine.  I said, "Ok Reid, it's time to go in and go potty."  Hudson immediately starts; "night night, night night."  Yup, it's that time!!  He knows all the cues and responds to them!!

Here are some pictures from this morning at Little Treasures.  1) This has been one of Bubba's favorite activities all week; dragging the barn around.  And pushing it as well.   2)  Reid has a bad bruise on his back and Sophie looked at it and then checked Hudson's back to see if he had one!  Ha!!
3)  I just took this picture of Hudson because Reid was making him laugh and it was super cute.  The more Hudson laughed, the more Reid was in "show-off" mode.  :)

Hudson - 10/13/2016

Hudson ate two servings of whole wheat toast and a few bites of watermelon for breakfast.  For lunch he ate everything as well: turkey slices, dinner roll, green beans, and mangoes.  At Breakfast He was following Reid's lead; "I want more, I want more."  Moments later I was washing Avi's face because she was done with breakfast.  Hudson's now chanting;"I done, I done, I done."  Ha!  I get such a kick out of how "programable" they are.  After Lunch I turned on the sound machine and Hudson again starts chanting; "night night, night night, night night."  So cool.  Well done Hudson!!

Reid was holding up the mirror lid playing "monkey" with Hudson and Avi and I happened to get a picture where you can see Hudon's reflection.  You can see he's grinning all over and having fun with the game.  Moments later Reid accidentally grazed the side of Hudson's face with his foot.  Hudson grimaced, but he didn't cry.  I told Reid to give him a love and Hudson laid his head on Reid's shoulder.  It was sweet and precious.  Good job boys.  Reid is very sweet with the little ones.

Hudson was playing with the legos and it was kind of fascinating to watch what he was doing.  He was reaching into the legos drawer behind him and then depositing the legos into the barn - which is laying on it's side.  But he would only put them into the barn singly.  If two or more were connected he would disconnect them and put the single pieces down.  He obviously likes details.  Hmmmm....maybe accounting is in his DNA.  :)

This last picture cracked me up!  No he's not trying to poop; he's trying to sit on the toy and make it spin.  It's just a slight misjudgment a few inches to the right!  Ha!  He'd done it earlier so I was waiting with the camera.  (Earlier, he'd actually sat right on it and made it work.)  :)

Hudson - 10/12/2016

Hudson tried a couple bites of jelly toast (not his favorite) and ate mixed berries for breakfast.  For lunch he ate ham, crackers, bean & bacon soup, and ate strawberries.  At lunch time I asked Reid if I was the funniest guy he knew.  "No."  Who is the funniest guy you know?  "Bubba."  LOL!  Yup, I agree.  He's pretty hilarious.

After breakfast I told Avilene it was her nap time and I was going to get her ready to go.  Hudson immediately started chanting/singing, "night night, night night...."  Our little routine Boy with great verbal skills.

Hudson was letting Sophie put the bumblebee jacket on, but it all started to take too long and he was ready to flee.  When I took this picture Sophie was saying things like; "I put it on...Leave it on!!"   Ha!  Then she informed him; "I'm not done yet."  I had to intervene in this situation because he really was not willing to sit any longer.  :)  Then later she was starting to take his socks off and stopped to ask "permission."  "Gary; Take his sock off?"

We read books and Hudson is sitting longer and longer for Story Time.  It works best to just have him sit beside me (like Sophie and Reid) rather than on my lap.  I usually start with the little ones on my lap, but he's "graduated" to a seat now.  :)

Baby Nora is here today; first time this week.  All the kids were happy to see her and it was super cute.  Hudson trotted over to the gate to meet them.  It's cute how he's starting to "run" everywhere! (At least it's cute at Daycare.)

Hudson - 10/11/2016

Hudson ate bagel (maple flavored) and ate apricots for breakfast.  For lunch he ate chicken, whole wheat elbow noodles, peas, and applesauce.

I have a couple notes, including this first picture from yesterday afternoon.  When it was snack time I asked Hudson, "Are you ready for snack?"  He immediately heads for the gate saying, "snack, snack, snack."  Of course he wouldn't say it for Momma when she picked him up.  Then we went outside and Kenzie and Riley wanted to pick up leaves.  Hey, when the kids want to clean the yard I'm all for it!!  In the picture Riley is holding the garbage can so Hudson can deposit a leaf.

The picture below is another great illustration how well Hudson is understanding language and concepts.  The lid he is holding in his hand has a mirror that he's looking at.  In this toy set I'll tease the kids and hold the mirror in front of them and say something like; "see the monkey!"  Bubba's reaction is so cute and he knows I'm playing with him.  So when I had the camera I asked, "Hudson, where's the monkey?"  And you can see how he responded.  He immediately picked up the lid, turned it over, and looked at himself.  (Don't worry Tutu!  This will only require minimal counseling in later years to resolve!!  Ha!)  Earlier, Lauralea was in the room and Hudson pointed the mirror at her and said, "monk monk monk."  :)

This was the first time Hudson has played with the play dough and he did great poking it with the plastic utensils.  He only used the knife, fork, and one heart-shaped cookie cutter, but he stayed right there and played for at least 10 - 15 minutes.  It's so nice with these kind of activities that he doesn't put everything in his mouth.  He did try one nibble, but was NOT impressed.  Nice work Bubba!

Hudson - 10/10/2016

Hudson ate raisin bran cereal and dried cranberries for breakfast.  For lunch he ate cheese & canadian bacon pizza, corn, and most of tropical fruit.  When Hudson was done with breakfast he walked past
Reid, who was still eating, waved and said, "Hi!" like it was the first time he'd seen him all morning. Ha!  And Reid said, "hi" back to him.

One of the last books we read this morning; "Skip to the Lou..."  A few minutes after we were done I'm sure he was trying to sing, "Lou lou lou lou"  So cute.

We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend and Hudson found several things that he investigated.  In the picture below he's playing with the barn, barn animals, and legos tractors, etc.  He likes putting things in a hole (like in the picture) and watching it fall to the bottom.  It goes in one way and comes out another way!!

I wanted to mention in his Blogs how much he's been enjoying Kenzie and Riley coming after school. They get a big kick out of Hudson and like to be rowdy with him, have him "chase" them, and tip him upside down on the mattress.  He loves the attention and activity.  Friday they had him in the swivel-rocker and they were spinning the chair around and around.  Not too fast, but I was keeping a close eye on that activity!!  I remember when Cooper was about Hudson's age and he couldn't go in circles like that without puking.  Hudson was laughing and wanting more!

The phones in this toy exchange have several buttons that make different sounds.  I said, "It's Tutu!" (two or three times.)  A few minutes later he was playing over by the igloo and I pushed the button again and this time he said, "Tutu" and came over to the couch where I was.  I love how he can express himself so well.

Hudson - 10/7/2016

Hudson ate several bites of breakfast:  malt-o-meal cereal and raisins.  For lunch he ate ground beef,  most of whole wheat elbow noodles, apple pieces, and half of mixed fruit.

Hudson was at the gate to greet Avilene and as soon as she came in he was motioning with his hand; "come here, come here, come here."  Over and over.  It was so cute.  They played on the mattress bouncing and crawling.  One of their favorites spots to hang out and play.

I took this picture when those two were playing in the legos drawer and on the legos table.  Hudson crawled in and out of the drawer several times and one time he got stuck.  He had his legs too far under the table.  Anyhow, I was observing them and he immediately looked at me with a look of distress.  But I let him struggle for a few seconds (he wasn't crying or yelling) and he was able to work himself free.  Good job Hudson!  I was very proud of him for working hard at it and solving his problem on his own.

We read books, sang songs, and did some dot painting.  I was trying to get Hudson to "thump" his dot paints up and down, but he wouldn't until Reid would thump his.  Sophie's not here today and Reid prefers to just "paint" with his instead of thump them.  It was pretty cute how Hudson was just following Reid's lead.

Hudson - 10/6/2016

Hudson ate raisin english muffin and blueberries for breakfast.  For lunch he ate chicken, crackers, sweet potatoes, and two or three cherries.

I took this picture yesterday after Sophie and Bubba got up from their nap.  Sophie was reading/singing "Wheels on the Bus" when Bubba stopped by to read along.  :)  Love this.  Love the focus.

Also yesterday afternoon I took Sophie and Hudson outside to see Reid's dog.  Reid's Daddy had walked over and the dog was tied down the sidewalk at the gate.  Chief is Great Dane and he's HUGE!!  Sophie barely got out the door, spotted Chief and literally burst into tears screaming!  She whirled around and sprinted right back in the house.  Geez.  But, she let me carry her down the sidewalk and I petted Chief.  How big is Chief?  I've seen him stand flat-footed at the entrance gate at the end of sidewalk and rest his chin on the top of the gate.  He can stand flat-footed and lick my face. Chief is HUGE!!

This picture is from today and it's the same book as Sophie was reading in the picture above.  Except this time Bubba is the reader and Avi is joining him.  And she was a bit more aggressive!!  I no sooner took this picture and she's snatched the book away!  Hudson has definitely met his match with Avilene!!  :)

Reid played very sweetly with Avi and Hudson this morning while Sophie was gone to Kinder-Music.  He was jumping on the mattress and wanted them to watch him.  He said, "Hey guys!  Look what I"m doing!?!"  Then I took this picture when Reid had a phone and Hudson had a phone.  Reid was saying, "Can you hear me Bubba!??!"  (Over and over!!)

Hudson - 10/5/2016

Hudson ate biscuit and peaches for breakfast.  For lunch he ate baked beans, dinner roll, peas, and pineapple.

I took this first picture when Hudson was doing lots of bouncing on the mattress.  The kids love to sit on the edge like he's doing and bounce up and down.  And then they'll flop over backwards and whatever other antics come to mind.  :)

"That's my letter.  That's my letter."  They learn the first letter of their name and that becomes "their" letter!  It won't be long before Hudson will be identifying his letter - or letters!  Sophie wanted to know the letter for "Bubba" too.  You can see Reid is watching to help out when needed.  Reid and Sophie like it because their letters are beside each other.   With this alphabet poster they frequently start by identifying the animal associated with their letter.  You can see the hippo for "H."

The first thing Reid told Hudson this morning; "Bubba! Hofie is your Mom!!"  Let's get this straight! I'm not your Mom!!  Cracked me up.  Hudson just says "Mom" all the time, but Reid thinks he's calling him Mom.  We also did some coloring, sang songs, and did some sign language.

Hudson - 10/4/2016

Hudson ate waffle and hash browns for breakfast.  For lunch he ate two servings of cheese & chicken quesadilla, ate carrots, and most of mandarin oranges.

I guess Sophie is getting Hudson trained on which toys to play with!  He went for the dolls and blankets first today.  Ha!  Just kidding.  However, I'm always intrigued by what they play with first. He was playing with the dress-up clothes with Sophie this morning and he managed to get his head through the arm hole of a shirt.  And then he was trying to put it over Avi's head - kind of like how Sophie tries to dress him.  Except there were 2 primary problems; 1) Avi was moving and 2) Hudson still had the shirt on himself.  Ha! That was quite entertaining!

Well Hudson has a playmate that likes to pound on stuff just as much as he does.  I took this picture of Hudson and Avi at the window waving (ok, pounding on the window) when Avi's Dad was driving by.  Avi pounds on the wall, toys, climber, igloo,...everything.  She's either a natural pounder or Bubba's been a good teacher.  Probably a combination, right!?

I LOVE this next picture.  Hudson is such a little love bug.  He'll flop his head down on anyone's lap; Avi was whopping Bubba's head pretty good, but he didn't really care.  He still had a dreamy look on his face.  Haha! And in the last picture he was laying his head on Reid's lap too, but by the time I got the camera Reid was starting to move Hudson because Hudson was saying, "Momma Momma."  When I took this picture Reid was saying, "Im NOT your Mom Bubba!!"  Ha!

Hudson - 10/3/2016

Hudson ate half of cheerios and ate his banana serving for breakfast.  For lunch he ate cheese sandwich, drank tomato soup, and ate beets.

It was so sweet to see Hudson this morning and he seemed tickled to be back as well.  We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange last weekend so it was 'new' stuff to check too.  He, Avi, and Sophie were laughing and having a good time bouncing and being silly on the mattress when I took this picture.  Even though Avi won't be 1 year old until the middle of next month she totally holds her own and loves to be in the middle of everything.

Hudson was on the floor crawling with Avi and they were going in and out of the igloo.  This age is so fun to watch play.  It's called "parallel play" where they are playing side-by-side and basically doing the same things.  The whole "sharing" concept and playing with the same toys comes a bit later. Which is why I have so many multiples of the same toys.  :)

Reid was occupying the swivel rocker and playing with some toys there and Hudson wanted into the chair as well.  There really wasn't room, but I just watched to see if I needed to intervene.  Hudson only whimpered slightly and in a few seconds moved on to something else.  It was kind of funny when he whimpered because Reid said, "You're fake crying Bubba."  (Someone has probably told Reid that in the past too, right!?  Especially with two big brothers.)
