Hudson ate cinnamon roll and canned prunes for breakfast. For lunch he ate half of scrambled eggs, hash browns, and sausage combo; he also ate waffle, and two servings of cantaloupe.
I am so proud of how well Hudson is doing on the nap mat. He adjusted to sleeping there very easily and lays so nice and still. Yesterday and again today he was the first one asleep. Well done Bubba!!
I took this first picture yesterday afternoon when Hudson was totally examining Kenzie's painted fingernails - orange, white, and black. He apparently was fascinated by it all because he laid right there and studied them for the longest time and Kenzie was loving it.
This next picture was from this morning when these four were waiting for Uncle Pat to drive by with Nora. Cooper was standing on his tiptoes when I took this picture and he told Reid, "Now we're the same amount." Haha!!
I was standing in the Play room and Hudson backed up to my legs and sat on my foot. Ha! Using my foot for a stool I guess. He also played at the book rack clearing every book off and meticulously stacking them on one of the yellow benches. Then I took this picture when Reid and Cooper abandoned Reid's "Millennium Falcon" and Hudson moved right in. Good job Bubba! :)

Hudson - 8/29/2016
Hudson ate kix cereal and mixed fruit for breakfast. For lunch he ate ham sandwich, peas, and mandarin oranges.
We have a full house today - six children are here. Kenzie and Riley will also join us after school at 2:30. (My license has a provision called "overlap" which allows for after-school children for 2 hours per day.) I actually got a picture with 5 out of the 6 children that I'm posting below! They're rarely all that close playing together to get a picture. And then they're moving so fast even then it's not easy! Baby Nora was napping and she's the only one not in the picture.
Jamie stopped in to give Cooper a love after getting Riley and Kenzie off to their first day at school. Hudson stood at the gate blowing her kisses and also waved bye. It was so cute. That was the first time I've seen him do goodby kisses on his own initiative.
Hudson stumbled and bonked his head on my shin, then looked at me like I caused him the pain he was feeling. Ha! Sorry Hudson. I was reading books to Cooper, Reid, and Sophie and didn't see you coming Bubba! If he'd continued sitting on my lap for story time we'd have avoided that owie!!
I tried to get a picture of Hudson close to Baby Nora, but this was about as good as I could do. As you can see in the picture Sophie has laid claim to the closest spot beside the Baby! She was so excited that she got to be with the Baby today. Hudson was more interested in the toys, but I think he noticed the new Baby was here again! Ha!

Hudson - 8/26/2016
Hudson ate brown rice and raisins for breakfast. For lunch he ate meat loaf, flat bread, carrots, and apricots.
I want to start off with a note about Hudson's pooping this morning in case we don't have the opportunity to visit when he gets picked up this afternoon. I changed a poopy diaper about 8:45 this morning and then about 10:45 he was really getting fussy and I could tell by his whimpering that something was hurting him. He had another poopy diaper and his butt was super red and he was quite uncomfortable. Just wanted to give you a heads-up.
This first picture I am posting is from yesterday afternoon when Cooper, Sophie, and Hudson were enamored by a grasshopper. I think it was a bit chilly for the hopper because he was pretty lethargic. But that gave the kids an opportunity to observe it up close and personal. It did hop several times, but for just a short distance. Hudson was laughing, but I think it was because of Cooper's antics.
Baby Nora started this morning and we got off to a challenging start because she and Baby Avi arrived at the same time; just as I was starting to feed Hudson his brown rice for breakfast. But we worked it out and that's how life happens at Little Treasures. So here's a picture of the back of the Baby's head. Ha! Bubba was sort of interested in her, but way more interested in playing with the saucer! :) So I added the 2nd picture of Nora and Cooper so you can see the Baby's face.
I forgot to mention to you this morning Maddy that I was going to experiment with Hudson sleeping on a nap mat so Baby Nora could have his sleeping room. And here's a picture of his first time sleeping with the "Big Kids." I only had to lay him down one time and that was when he realized I was right beside him. He got up on his knees and grinned at me. He was asleep within 5 minutes. I'm doing this Blog in a chair right beside him, but he did awesome. So if you're ok with this transition I'll have you sign a sheet that the State requires me to have you sign. I have lots of cribs if you'd rather he continued in a crib for awhile longer.

Hudson - 8/25/2016
Hudson ate two servings of cinnamon toast and two servings of grapes for breakfast. For lunch he ate baked chicken, dinner roll, hash browns, and maybe 3 canned cherries. He watches for me to bring out the meal tray every meal time and then he races for the gate. This morning for breakfast he got so excited and started yelling and waving, trying to get the attention of the rest of the kids to come forth!! Ha! It was so cute.
Reid is here today and everyone was happy to see him. Oh I have to tell you something funny Reid said about Hudson. Bubba was doing his guttural throaty sounds that he makes. Reid came over to me and said, "Hey Gary! He's getting some poop out." LOL That made me laugh so hard. (Actually Hudson had pooped about 20 minutes prior.)
I kind of coaxed Hudson into standing here for a second so I could take this picture. I wanted to explain why he might have a bruise on the top of his forehead, but it's easier to show it in a picture! He likes going in this cubby hole, but frequently forgets to duck. It's hard to walk straight in when you're over 30 inches and the opening is only a little over 29 inches!! :)
I took this next picture when I was watching Hudson play beside Avi. He saw what she was playing with (a carrot) and looked around and found another one for her. (One in each hand.) Pretty cute. Hudson also did some Dot Painting and his usual goodbyes to Lauralea. Sophie copied him this morning and said, "Bye Lor Lor."

Hudson - 8/24/2016
Hudson ate blueberry bagel and peaches for breakfast. For lunch he ate ham, half of whole wheat elbow noodles, half of corn, and ate apple bites.
I know I frequently talk about routine, but the importance of routine in this age group really can't be overstated. And Hudson LOVES routine. Every morning when he notices Lauralea has her work bag he starts saying and waving, "bye." It's so cute. And he's just like clockwork. "Bye bye bye." Lauralea loves it and she always has "fresh" material (examples) for the classes she teaches! (The primary benefit from routine is the security it gives them. I love that.)
He was patting Avilene so gently on the head. So adorable. So I got the camera and asked if he'd "pat" her again. He looked at me for clarification (ha) and so I asked him to give her a love. I took this first picture when he was leaning in for some "head snuggles." Which is just perfect because that's about as much of any kind of snuggling Avi will tolerate from anyone! :)
I fixed a broken strap on this mask and of course the kids were interested in watching. Hudson wanted to wear the mask so I put it on him. I think this mask went with a story we had about a Lumberjack. Anyhow, that part is gone, but the mask continues. :) Hudson likes walking around with them on. And in the 2nd picture he was still wearing it even though it'd dropped down and he couldn't see anything! So he was walking around blind! Silly Bubba! I was laughing so hard.

Hudson - 8/23/2016
Hudson ate two servings of waffle and ate pears for breakfast. For lunch he ate everything as well: tuna & crackers, sweet potatoes, and mandarin oranges. I haven't mentioned this for awhile, but Hudson is doing so well at meal times. He LOVES meal time and is a great eater; not picky at all. I'm super proud of him.
I mentioned this to Daddy Colin yesterday, but I'll post it here as well. At snack yesterday afternoon Hudson headed right for his bib and said, "Bib." Just as plain as could be. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised - after all he says his "B's" wonderful. (Bubba Bubba Bubba Bubba.....) He's pretty advanced with his speech. And as I've said before, I hear Lauralea's phrase in my head; "Especially for a boy." :) Today at lunch he went for his bib and knew exactly which one was his.
This next note is about Cooper, but it has Bubba's name in it and I thought you might get a kick out of it. Cooper says some VERY random things and this morning he randomly asked, "When is somebody gonna poop!?!" LOL What!!?!! So he changed the question slightly: "When is Bubba gonna poop?" He just did and why do you want to know Cooper? Are you keeping a daily journal??
Here are a couple of pictures from this morning. Cooper and Sophie were "hiding" on the mattress and they wanted Bubba to "find" them. He was just playing around the edge of the mattress and didn't even know he was part of the game. Ha! You can see Sophie's head in the picture and the top of Cooper's head as well. (Right where the black streak goes around the Panda Bear.) The 2nd picture is a "recreation" of an incident from this morning. Hudson was sticking his index finger in the faucet and then yelling because he couldn't get it out. Then he'd manage to get loose and stick it right back in there. Silly Bubba! (He can easily pull it straight down, but his tendency is to just back up and pull his finger out from a bad angle.) And I want to put out this disclaimer for Tutu: No one was hurt or coerced in this recreation! Haha!

Hudson - 8/22/2016
Hudson ate chex cereal and half of mixed fruit for breakfast. For lunch he ate two servings of beef sandwich, a few sips of tomato soup, and ate some pickled beets.
We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend so Hudson was checking out all the different toys on the shelves. He was playing with one of the masks and Sophie was determined to put it on his face. He stood very still for her and was letting her put it over his head. Ok, except she got it on upside-down and so she just twisted it to fix it. Ha! Bubba was no longer standing still for that!
Cooper was showing Hudson the Star Wars bandaid on his toe and he also has one on the heel of his other foot. Momma Maddy had just told me that Hudson has a bandaid on the bottom of a foot as well so I thought this was kind of cute that they were comparing battle wounds. :)
I have several old flip phones that were given to me and I opened one for Hudson and told him to say hi to "Tutu." And he did (several times), so this picture is for you Tutu. He was walking around holding it up to his ear saying, "Hi Tutu, hi Tutu." I didn't get a picture of that, but he soon did it again while sitting on the floor.
We also spent time outside this morning and chased a few bubbles. It was a little windy at times and the bubbles would fly all over. Hudson was moving around the yard chanting, "bubbles, bubbles." And it pretty much sounded like, "Bubba Bubba."

Hudson - 8/19/2016
Hudson ate cheerios and canned prunes for breakfast. For lunch he ate everything as well: ground beef, biscuit, hash browns, and mandarin oranges.
Hudson and Avi are the only ones here today and he was here an hour before she arrived so I had lots of fun playing with him and observing his activity. He was flopping face-first onto the mattress and than looking up to see if I was watching. Yes I'm watching you Bubba and you're quite hilarious! :) He did some more of his favorite activities as usual; pushing cars on the floor and dumping out the three shape buckets. Lauralea and I always called this the "dump and run" stage. Lots of children this age will dump everything, clear the shelves, and that's about the primary focus of their play. Hudson likes to dump, but he'll also engage and experiment with most of toys.
I continue to be impressed with his understanding of language. He's already able to follow simple directions, but obviously the key is understanding what's spoken. I asked him to "pick up the book and bring it over here." (That's actually 2 directions.) Nice job Hudson!! He's doing great! And Lauralea likes to add; "Especially for a boy!" Ha! (However, generally speaking the girls do just about everything a little earlier.)
Here are a couple pictures from Hudson's play this morning. He was going in and out of the igloo and making sure "Lor Lor" was watching as he went inside. Then in the 2nd picture he was playing with the dress-up clothes again as well. He loves walking around with something over his face. And of course he walked right into the wall! (Not hard, but still....)
We also went for a walk with the wagon when Avilene left to attend a Doctor appointment. We were outside and I said, "You wanna go for a walk Bubba?" He immediately headed down the sidewalk to the gate. So I walked along behind him pulling the wagon. I opened the gate and he took a left turn and kept going. (Same direction he heads every afternoon when You pick him up Maddy! Ha!) He walked almost to the corner before I loaded him into the wagon and we went for a nice walk.

Hudson - 8/18/2016
Hudson ate toasted sandwich thins and a few bites of cantaloupe for breakfast. For lunch he ate turkey slices, dinner roll, green beans, and mangoes. Before breakfast he went right over to the bib rack to get his bib. Sophie always grabs his bib for him and frequently puts it on him, so I'd never seen him try to get it himself. :)
Hudson was trying to put something in my hand and I was writing down notes and not paying much attention to what he had. Here's what I was thinking: Was he just pretending to give me something? Maybe he was trying to give me "5" or give me "knucks?" Nope, when I actually looked it was pieces of a dead fly. Haha!!
I took these first pictures yesterday afternoon. Hudson was VERY focused on his feet for the longest time - 5 minutes is a LONG time for this age group! He was intently studying his foot and I'm watching and thinking maybe a "Podiatrist?" :)
This picture was also taken yesterday afternoon and this age group loves doing this with the shape buckets. He was experimenting with the echoing sounds, occasionally looking up at me, and grinning all over.
Sophie was playing with the dress-up clothes and Hudson joined her. He was trying to get some shirts on and then stuck one on his head similar to what she was doing. He took off across the room and Sophie was sure his shirt needed some adjustments.

Hudson - 8/17/2016
Hudson ate two servings of whole wheat toast and ate peaches for breakfast. For lunch he ate ham, crackers, bean & bacon soup, and bananas.
Hudson and Avi are the only kids at Little Treasures today so Hudson is not lacking for attention! Ha! He has had a very normal morning and did his usual morning routine; yanking pillows off the shelf, removing the three shape buckets and emptying the contents, and playing with his two favorite cars. (See 1st picture) These cars make a kind of clicking sound when he pushes them across the floor and I think it makes them extra attractive to him. :) As you can see in the picture the top of the igloo is also a good place for driving.
Hudson was sitting on the floor beside the legos table playing with the phones. He had them up to his ear jabbering and I heard him say, "Hi Lor Lor, Hi Lor Lor." Ha! Lauralea will get a kick out of that. He says that every morning (several times) before she leaves for work. So cute and she loves it.
Avi and Hudson played near each other all morning; except when she had her nap of course. She is getting very mobile and is pretty tough so she's holding her own with Bubba. Ha! She grinned all over when she first arrived this morning and Hudson went charging to the gate to meet her. They really are pretty good buddies already. Hudson and I played outside for part of the time Avi was napping.

Hudson - 8/16/2016
Hudson ate two servings of blueberry bagel and ate apricots for breakfast. For lunch he ate chicken, whole wheat elbow noodles, peas, and applesauce. Close to the end of lunch I asked him if he wanted another bite. (I'd been feeding him a mixture of what I just listed.) He gave a negative head nod, said, "no" and opened his mouth for a bite. Ha! Then just before I washed him up he was sitting there saying, "Hi Bubba, hi Bubba, hi Bubba." :)
He's gaining more confidence every day with his walking and standing abilities and so the adventure continues! I've noticed he's starting to climb a bit more and then stand up on whatever he's climbing on. Today it was the yellow benches, yesterday it was the legos table. And soon he'll be standing on the blue balance beam you see in the picture below. :) For now he just continues to use it for a good place to do some drumming!
Sophie was wrapping up her Baby and singing, "Good night Avi, good night Avi." Hudson started singing, "night night, night night." Then Hudson moved over beside Sophie and grabbed the blanket she was wrapping her baby with. Mistake!! Her reaction was swift and furious! That's sacred goods right there! I quickly intervened because he was moving in for another attempt at stealing that precious blanket! Geez!
We read some books and then went outside. I took this picture when Sophie was trying to coax Hudson to come down the slide and she was going to catch him! Ha! She never did coax him into going down. Last week he went down this slide, feet first. on his belly. Which is actually a safe way for little ones to go!!

Hudson - 8/15/2016
Hudson ate raisin bran cereal and dried cranberries for breakfast. For lunch he ate canadian bacon & cheese pizza, ate most of corn, and most of tropical fruit.
Hudson thumped his head on the climber, the yellow bench, and the igloo - all before breakfast. I told him he needed to quit leading with his head because he was rattling his brains around. Cooper thought that was the funniest thing he'd heard all morning. Then I turned around and here's Hudson playing on the legos table. (Picture below.) Earlier he'd had one foot in the legos drawer shuffling the legos around and it makes quite a loud racket. And grinning at me. :) Yup, that's a pretty good noise maker Hudson!!
Cooper and I were laughing watching Hudson "stand on his head" again. I was taking pictures and I let Cooper chose the one he liked. He chose the one below and said, "I like that picture with one eye." Ha!
Hudson and Sophie were playing in the same wagon outside and he was grabbing her foot. I took this picture when she changed positions so he couldn't reach her feet. You can see in the picture below she keeping a wary eye on him! Ha! Right after I took this picture I noticed Hudson was poopy so we all headed inside to take care of him. I made a comment about how big his poop was and Cooper asked, "What size is it Gary?" Large. "No; what number is it?!?" Uhhmm, 20. "Oooooh, that's a BIG number Gary!!!" :)

Hudson - 8/12/2016
Hudson ate malt-o-meal cereal and raisins for breakfast. For lunch he ate ground turkey, a few bites of whole wheat elbow noodles, bites of apple slices, and most of mixed fruit.
Hudson was doing his usual morning talking. I'm wearing an "Elmo" shirt today. So we were practicing that and it sounded like; "Elma, Elma" :) The first time he did it was loud; Lauralea was in the kitchen and heard it plainly! He does have a strong voice! :)
I told Momma Maddy yesterday that I would probably include a picture of Bubba "standing on his head" real soon! He did it several times this morning, but I rarely was close to the camera and it was pretty quick! The picture below gives you an idea of what I was talking about, although in this instance he didn't give himself much room to operate!! Ha! During the past almost 20 years I've taken SO many pictures of SO many kids this age doing this exact same thing; it's like a Toddler-Right-of-Passage! Transitioning from Infant to Toddlerhood!! He started doing this yesterday and again today.
After his "standing on head ritual" Hudson was playing beside Avi. You'll notice they're playing with the same toy regardless of the fact there are two more airplanes available! Ha! The one that is "being used" is always more interesting!
Today was Hudson's first day trying some "dot painting." Pounding these containers up and down is within Hudson's repertoire of artistic ability!! He watched Cooper first and then I handed him one. He looked at me as if to ask; "Is this legal!?!" Yup! Go for it! He was hitting the same spot so often (see the center of his paper) that he about wore out that part of the card-weight paper! So I moved the paper around and he kept on applying some paint! Lots of fun. :)

Hudson - 8/11/2016
Hudson ate raisin english muffin and blueberries for breakfast. For lunch he ate chicken, crackers, sweet potatoes, and canned cherries. I was trying to tell Hudson something at Lunch Time and I called him the wrong name(s). Ha! Cooper said, "Were you talking to Bubba?!" Yes. "You said Cooper...Reid. You were supposed to say Bubba!" That was my next choice Coop!!
Hudson is so talkative in the morning when he arrives. I told Lauralea his 'morning jabbering' is so cute. And that's when he's most likely to try to mimic any sounds I make. He saw Lauralea leaving this morning and he immediately and exuberantly starts waving and saying, "Bye LorLor, bye LorLor." It's so cute and she loves it.
Cooper has been asking for me to get the tunnels out and so we did this morning. We rarely get them out during the summer months - just too nice to be inside. I hooked both of them together and I like the first picture. It makes them look about 25 feet long! (It's actually an 8 footer plus a 6 footer.) When Hudson saw me lay the first tunnel on the floor he was there in a flash and immediately heading through it! Sophie is not here today - woke up with a fever - but Cooper and Hudson still had lots of fun and were playing "chase" in and out of the tunnels.
I took this last picture when Cooper was going under the balance beam heading for Hudson. (More chase games!) Cooper's head was wet so that's a good sign they're playing hard. He said, "I'm sweating!!"

Hudson - 8/10/2016
Hudson ate biscuit and peaches for breakfast. For lunch he ate a large serving of baked beans; I was feeding those to him and in the middle of each bite he was pointing at his plate and yelling something like; "keep those bites coming!!" :) That was the first time I've seen him do that. He also ate his serving of dinner roll, bites of peas, and bites of pineapple.
Sophie was trying to hold Hudson's hand while walking across the floor. It was super cute, but not real successful because she was walking too fast. He was totally cooperative; until she wanted to continue holding his hand when he was more interested in grabbing some toys. :)
We did some coloring with markers on coffee filters at Art Time and I gave Hudson his first opportunity at Little Treasures. He's about as young as I ever try because they usually put the markers directly into their mouth. Hudson never put it in his mouth one time! I was shocked. Ha! Then we spray water on the coffee filters and the color runs and then we let it dry. The Kids like the process - which is obviously what it's all about at this age!
Hudson was watching Sophie drive some cars so he got one and started doing the exact same thing. It's amazing how much they learn from each other. He's also watched her wrap her dolls many times. So this morning he had one and was trying to wrap his baby. It was so stinking cute! Not a lot of finesse - the baby and blanket were frequently flying in opposite directions!! Ha!
Hudson heard Cooper and Sophie having fun on the other side of the room and went to investigate. They were covering each other with pillows and having a good time. As you can see in the last picture Hudson had a pillow and was covering up Sophie. And Avi had joined in the fun as well.

Hudson - 8/9/2016
Hudson ate waffle and hash browns for breakfast. For lunch he ate chicken & cheese quesadilla, carrots, and had a taste of mandarin oranges. I love Hudson's nap time routine - it's pretty simple, but he LOVES routine so I do the exact same thing everyday. Almost all small children like routine and thrive on it. Some REALLY like it. I think Hudson's in the "REALLY" like it group. :) After I wash him up from lunch I cradle him in my arms the same way every day and start singing "night night Bubba, night night Bubba" while I carry him to his crib. Today I didn't start singing immediately so he did. "Nigh nigh, nigh nigh." So cute.
I took this picture yesterday afternoon when Hudson was trying to put on some dress-up clothes. That arm hole wasn't quite big enough for his head! Ha! But he didn't seem to care and just took off crawling across the room just like you see in the picture. Pretty much running blind.
Avilene has started pulling herself up and I took this picture when Hudson was really studying her this morning. He was looking at her and I'm thinking he's saying, "Hey, you're supposed to be on the floor! You can't stand up!" And he never did smile or make any expression, just very sober. (Look how she's working her tongue and I think she's pretty impressed with herself.)
It rained hard for at least 20 Minutes this morning. I took this picture when these three were watching it pound on the driveway. They were back at the window shortly after the rain stopped to watch LOTS of birds at the feeder and also on the ground picking up what they split.

Hudson - 8/8/2016
Hudson ate cheerios and banana for breakfast. For lunch he ate cheese sandwich, drank tomato soup, and ate some pickled beets. At lunch he burped in the middle of yelling for more food and Cooper, in the middle of laughing said, "He burped!". (It's just a male thing; body sounds are quite entertaining for us.)
We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend and Hudson explored a lot of stuff, beginning with the shape sorters. I was helping him push the right shapes though the holes. He soon found many more uses for the shape buckets that didn't require the correct shape in the correct hole! :)
We also played outside and saw the Templeton family riding their bikes and heading for the Missoula-to-Lolo Trail. Everyone was happy to see Reid; we haven't seen much of him this summer. Hudson came strolling down the sidewalk to say hello and Reid, Bode, and Tate were all tickled to see him walking.
I took these pictures during outside play this morning. Hudson had been doing lots of walking in the grass. He was working hard at it and it's not easy when you're just beginning. He sat down to take a breather!! In the 2nd picture I was trying to coax him to crawl through the back side of the little climber. He thought about it, but as you can see in the last picture it's way more fun to try to crawl up the slide. Well, I'm not sure if it's more 'fun,' but that's what he keeps trying to do. It's definitely more frustrating and he yells about it!!

Hudson - 8/5/2016
Hudson ate oatmeal and dried cranberries for breakfast. For lunch he ate turkey burger, whole wheat elbow noodles, peas, and applesauce.
We spent most of our morning walking to the Park, playing at the park, and walking back home. Twice! I forgot the camera the first time and so we walked back - well I walked and they rode in the wagon -and got the camera and water bottles. The first time we were leaving the house Cooper wanted to pull Hudson in the wagon. I said ok, you can pull the wagon until you get tired. He made it out the gate and almost to the driveway of our garage, "Ok, I'm tired." Ha!
A woman with a dog stopped to talk to the boys and Hudson got all excited when the dog came over and stuck it's face in Bubba's face. I could tell he was totally fine with dog behavior! Ha. Felix has him trained and I'm sure he has Felix trained as well!! :)
Here are some pictures taken at the Park. (We went to Honeysuckle Park in case anyone is wondering.) Hudson was pretty much game for trying any of the play equipment. So we started with the swings and he was loving that. Next was the merry-go-round and again he was good with it as long as it was moving!! I sat him on the seat you see in the 3rd picture. At one point he was sliding off sideways, but he didn't even yell. However, he was really hanging on tight!
